Full description

This image (taken in Syria) shows the sweater that had recently played a part in some misunderstandings while Birchmore traveled through Palestine. The black sweater, with a red block "G" led some people to conclude he was German. Palestine was filled with unrest at the time—between many longtime residents and recently arrived European refugees (the majority of them from Germany).
